Breaking Ground on Brown Mountain Observatory

Breaking Ground on Brown Mountain Observatory

An exciting day on Brown Mountain. We broke ground on the pier today. After two test locations it was decided that the last location would be the permanent location for the scope so we broke ground today. Aaron under the supervision of Bruiser in the background dug the pier footer. We used 1″ rebar for a structural cage and lowered it into the 28″ deep hole for the footer. Next up a lot of hand-mixing Quikcrete. I calculated 24 80lb bags.
