Things get busy and ole how time flies. First Brown Mountain has not made a lot of progress at all on our observatory. My efforts have been spent on fostering West Virginia Astrophotography Association. Great strides have been made to expand our partnerships this year. WVAA has added partnerships with WV Department of Tourism, DwarfLabs, University of Tennesee with their initiative to blaze a dark sky trail across the Appalachia range, NOVAC, Spruce Mountain Institute, NASA, and several more are in the works.
WVAA will host it’s second annual conference at Blackwater Falls State Park on August 2-3rd. We are finalizing our speaker list but there will be two days of workshops and starparties. We have also added to our lending library for starparty devices so you can come take your very own astro image without having to own equipment. We have monthly contest for entry into our hall of fame and earn a challenge coin. Our online community is through Discord. Come join, learn, and pass it on with WVAA.
